Dhiren Audich Software Developer | Apprentice Polymath | Data Science Enthusiast

A picture of me

Who am I?

Hi, I'm Dhiren. I am a software developer living and working in the beautiful city of Guelph, Ontario. I recently graduated from the University of Guelph, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Physics, with steep interest in Data Mining and Computational Statistics.

What do I do?

I am currently employed at Giantgoat Web Development as a System Administrator and a Web Developer. When I am not pouring myself over server logs and scripts, I am usually programming the backend or making the front end more accessible.

Even though I do full stack development, I prefer working on the backend (non server) stuff more. Doing sys admin stuff has vetted me into being a better developer, as it forces me to think about page and server loads, and db issues which I would have otherwise ignored.

My Personal interests:

  • I enjoy reading, currently I am reading Lateral Thinking by Edward De Bono, Rocket Surgery Made Easy by Steve Krug, and 2600 magazine.
  • Attending tech meetups.
  • Watching documentaries, I am particularly fond of BBC's Horizon series as well as Panorama, and Global's 24/7.
  • Spending abnormal amount of time reading articles from Hacker News and article tweets posted to my twitter feeds from various sources.
  • Taking interesting courses on Coursera.
  • Having adventures: skydiving, soaring, hiking, biking, white water rafting, etc.
  • Cooking and trying different kinds of foods.

My favourite quotes:

"Lives of great men all remind us that we can make our lives sublime and leave behind us footprints on the sands of time."

"Chance favours the prepared mind."
